Carers or supporters go free!
Anyone who receives DLA (disability living allowance) can apply for a CEA (Cinema Exhibitions Association) card. This gives their carer or supporter a free ticket. You need to fill in an application form and send this with your payment (when we wrote this, it was £5) and a passport photo of yourself. The right for people with a learning disability to stay up late and have some fun!
‘Stay up late’ is a national campaign set up by Heavy Load- a punk band made up of musicians with and without learning disabilities. The campaign is based around fighting for the right for people with a learning disability to stay up late and have fun, a concept which came from people having to leave gigs before 10pm due to staff finishing their shift. The Stay up late campaign aims to encourage planning to help change the shifts of care support workers so people with learning disabilities can stay up late.
